The Plan: To thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. The AT is 2,167 miles, and passes through 14 states.
The Reason: To live out our dream, to realize that life has more to offer than a 9 to 5 job, a paycheck, and a pile of bills. To "Balance" (Bonnie's Trail Name) our lives with no regrets. We have been asked: "Why do you want to hike the Appalachian Trail?" Answer: "Y-Knot" (Mike's Trail Name).

Trail Scenes NC
Sunset from our tent
The fire tower on Mt Albert. There was supposed to be a great view from here, but...cloudy skies.
Looking forward to hearing how the hiking is going now that your family 'reinforcements' have joined you! I hope you don't have the cold, windy, stormy weather we're having right now.
Love your photos so far ..... too bad you missed Gatlinburg - it is also flourishing with wildflowers - what natural beauty! Thinking of you daily, Mike & Bonnie .... With Love, Mom & Tony
Hi; I've been enjoying your pictures and the accompanying comments; I especially like the glorious sunset with the mountain in the background, and the green valley in contrast. We are following your progress with great interest, and hope all continues to go well with you. Love, Nana

What do you think of the trail so far? Is it well-worn or well-maintained? I like those green tunnels of mt. laurel.
